Gen Li, Ph. D., MBA

 

Biography:

Dr. Gen Li is Head of Productivity, Development Operations, Pfizer Inc., responsible for productivity improvement.  He was the keynote speaker in the 4th Annual Pharmaceutical Performance Measures in Philadelphia, January 2005.  Prior to the merger of Pfizer and Pharmacia, Dr. Li was Director, Business Analysis in Clinical Operations at Pharmacia.  Before joining Pfizer/Pharmacia in 2002, he was in Global Development at Bristol-Myers Squibb.

 

Dr. Li is an established leader in drug development, with experiences covering many of the aspects related to strategic planning and operations management.  His contributions have been recognized by receiving the President Award at BMS and the Upjohn Award at Pfizer.

 

Dr. Li earned his MBA in Finance from Cornell University in 1996, and Ph. D. in biochemistry from Beijing University in 1987.

 

 

Abstract:

By using the example of Development Operations in Pfizer, Dr. Li will talk about how we could achieve productivity improvement in clinical development.  It will be emphasized that making strategy everyone's everyday job is the only way to successfully execute a strategy.  Keeping in mind that majority of the audience have a background in drug discovery, he will explain the relationship between research and development, in terms of productivity improvement.  Dr. Li will also introduce the structure of development organizations in the industry.
