Dr. Wei-Wu He is a co-founder and general partner of Emerging Technology Partners, LLC-a venture capital firm focused on investing in the life science industry. Dr. He started his career as one of the first few employees of Human Genome Sciences, Inc. In 1996, Dr. He founded OriGene Technologies, Inc. Dr. He has also co-founded and invested in several life sciences companies including Aptus Genomics, Inc. and Clairus Technologies, Inc. Dr. He is serving on the board of InforMax Inc., Aptus Genomics Inc., Clarus Technologies, Inc. and Fasgen Inc.

Dr. He has been awarded seven U.S. patents and has over 20 original research publications. Dr. He received his B.S. in Biochemistry from Nanjing University and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Baylor College of Medicine. His previous research training experiences include research fellowships at Mayo Clinic and at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He received his MBA from the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania.

Abstract: Major technological changes are creating unique opportunities in the life sciences industry. The process of commercialization of innovative technology, however, remains to be challenging. Various aspects of life sciences market opportunities and strategies of commercialization of life science technologies will be discussed in this presentation with a special emphasis in the private equity and company formation process.
