Dr. Jin Wang was former Asia regional director of Paramount Capital Investment, LLC, a leading investment banking and venture capital company specialized in biotech and pharmaceutical industry. He has many years’ experience of venture financing, business development, technology & market assessment, and assisting start-ups growth. Prior to his venture capitalist’s career, he served as executive vice president at UMIG, a US start-up pharmaceutical company with business focus in Aisa/China. He used to be research scientist working for Roche and Worcester Foundation for Experiment Biology. He has MS. & Ph.D. degree in biotech and biomedicine from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He graduated from Zhejiang University in 1982. He is one of SAPA’s original founders. Currently, Dr. Wang is a globe business & clinic development manager of Cell Therapeutic, Inc.

Abstract: To build up or invest a biopharma venture is a very challenging and complexitive job which involves much more than just having a great technology.. This talk will cover the entrepreneurial process of starting up, including evaluating idea & technology, intellectual property, business model, sales and marketing , team assembly, financial control, execution and fund raising from angel, VC and corporate or institutional investors. Certain cases analysis and lesson will be shared with attendee, and some practice guideline or tips based on the speaker’s previous experience in new venture investment will be given to help potential entrepreneur or investor to manage expectation \s of the risk, reward, and effort involving starting a biopharma venture.
