Linda C. Hogan is Vice President, US Group Head, Global Business Development, with Aventis Pharma, a world leader in pharmaceutical based health care.
Ms. Hogan began her pharmaceutical industry career with Marion Laboratories in 1983, first in R&D and then in various positions in Strategic Planning and New Market Business Intelligence. In 1988, she joined Marion’s Licensing Group and has continued in that function with Marion Merrel Dow, Hoechst Marion Roussel (HMR), and now Aventis.
Prior to joining Marion, Ms. Hogan was with the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, first as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, then as Associate Professor. She has been active in several professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
Ms. Hogan earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy for the University of Kansas in 1975, a master of science degree in hospital pharmacy, also from the University of Kansas, in 1977, and an MBA from Rockhurst College in 1987.

This presentation will provide an overview of the role and importance of Business Development for the global pharmaceutical industry. It will include a description of the various activities of the Business Development function -- the identification and search for partnering opportunities, evaluation and decision making processes often used, and key elements of negotiation and implementation of collaboration alliances.
